Horseback Adventures
  Trail Riding  for individuals, couples, or small family groups on well trained gentle horses.    
  All Private  Horse Tours...just you and your family or friends!
Meadow  Ride,  Basic Lesson,  or  Partnering with your horse $50/person.     (These rides are at least an hour.)
     The Meadow is a good starting point if you have never ridden or just want to stroll through the meadows and wood margins.  These rides are appropriate for children or adults. Mostly ridden at a walk. Around 1 hour of riding with extensive instruction if needed or requested.
     The Basic Lesson can be adapted for small children, families, or adults. We stay in the arenas, but learn the skills to feel comfortable and have fun out on the trails.
     Partnering with your horse is one on one instruction  learning to understand how to blend your personality and goals with your horse's unique "view".  Gain insights into horse behavior and  expand your ability to be a safe and effective rider. This can be added to any ride and will expand your riding ability and confidence.
 
   Four Seasons Trail Ride  $60/person.
  This trail ride is a scenic cruise through the rolling meadows and gentle wooded hillsides. No steep drops or difficult hill climbs. Perfect for all ages and experience levels, and those looking to slow down, relax, and enjoy some horse time. Approx. 1 hour of trail time plus lesson.
 
Meadows and Woods Ride   $70/person.
      This ride lets you experience riding into the woods and through the meadows, walking and some trotting.  Many adventuresome beginners and older children have enjoyed this experience, too. This ride usually lasts about 1 1/2 hrs, including the mini lesson and lets you really get that feel for what horse riding can be.  We will customize the pace and directions as we ride.









Deep Woods Ride    $85/person
  Beautiful!  Exciting!  Wow!  These are some words to describe this ride.  You experience the world of the steep hillsides covered with lush forests, medicinal plants,  breathtaking ravines, and vistas. We start out with more intensive arena work to prepare you with riding skills needed prior to heading out. (This is not an recommended for young children or first time riders.) ~2 hr.

Adventure Ride  $125/person
   This is a lengthened ride that  takes you to hidden vistas, beautiful meadows, and wooded hillsides. Whether you are looking for quiet escape or want to feel the wind in your hair, this ride can be adapted just for you. We start  by matching you with a special mount trained to listen to your balance and desire and, prior to heading out, we practice skills needed for your unique adventure.  (over 2  hours, dependant on weather, not available during heat of summer.)

Pony Rides available for children $25/ half hour .
  Small children can have their own lesson and unique "horse time".  Often children enjoy grooming the pony and learning how to lead, as well as ride.

YOUR EXPERIENCE AT EQUESTRIAN RIDGE WILL BE UNIQUE FROM OTHER TRAIL RIDING VENUES.
OUR HORSES ARE TRAINED TO RESPOND TO YOUR CONTROL; NOT JUST FOLLOW THE HORSE IN FRONT OF YOU !

YOU WILL BE ACTIVELY RIDING AND GUIDING YOUR MOUNT ON YOUR RIDE,  AND YOU CAN CHOOSE A ROLLING MEADOW OR MORE CHALLENGING TRAILS OVER WOODED HILLSIDES. YOU DECIDE!

BECAUSE YOU WILL BE ACTIVELY IN CHARGE OF YOUR HORSE, ALL RIDERS MUST BE ABLE TO SAFELY RIDE INSIDE THE RIDING ARENA BEFORE PROCEEDING ONTO THE TRAILS.
A SEASONED PROFESSIONAL WILL BE WITH ALL TRAIL RIDES TO ASSIST, ANSWER QUESTIONS, AND OFFER HORSE ADVICE.
   ADULTS APPROACHING 300 LBS ARE DIFFICULT TO CARRY FOR MOST HORSES. We will try to accommodate you.

Signs of Spring

   Winter is heading out and spring is blowing in!  

    The Robins, Red-Winged Blackbirds, and Canadian Geese have returned. Green is appearing in the meadows and under the trees. Spring Peepers are sounding out near water deep in the woods.  Nature is calling all for rebirth and change. 
    It's time to make your reservations and enjoy this new season with a horseback adventure. Come and explore this beautiful edge of Appalachia with a ride on a horse picked just for you. Happy New Year - New possibilities and many new Happy Trails to you.

Winter is a time that life slows down on the Ridge. 

  The cold and often blustery days make horseback riding often like an artic expedition, unless you pick a day with sunshine, or minimal wind. These days do happen and are a wonderful and magical experience.
  Snow riding is one of those magic times. The dry, powdery white coating makes riding a special treat. 
 Snow can not only cover the landscape with it's beauty, it gives the ground under the horses a cushion like soft clouds. You seem to float over the ground like you have wings. 
  There is also a quiet, peacefulness to the trail, that seems to slow down time, and transports you to another reality.
  So bundle up and put on those extra layers. Come and try winter riding and take home some magical horse memories. Hope to see you soon, Jackie

Winter comes to the Ridge

   Winter's chill has come to the Ridge, but bundle up and come out and RIDE!  Horses love the cold~ no flies and sweating.  They have more energy and really look forward to seeing the trails.

   Snow is beautiful to look at and makes for a special day of riding. Watch the weather and come out for a winter wonderland ride when the snow dusts the land and trees. The best riding snow is the dry powder. Think of riding in the clouds - that's the way it can seem.

Thanksgiving week and we have a lot to be thankful on the Ridge. 

   Healthy happy horses and humans, dogs, chickens, kitties, and Mr. Donkey.  The weather has been warm and inviting,( except for a little wind and drizzle one day), making for alot of Happy Trails and riders.
  We are open all season and can schedule a ride whenever you'd like- just call or email in advance. We can be open 7 days a week.

Caves and Hidden Places  $85/person.
    This ride goes into the wooded hillsides and searches for rocks, caves, and waterfalls.  We will ride into seldom seen forests and explore nature's secret places.  This ride can be ridden by adventuresome beginners or can be adapted for the more experienced. ~2 hrs. dependant on the pace.
